By injecting into the grid a current that is equal in magnitude but opposite in phase to the harmonic currents at each frequency, it effectively eliminates harmonic distortion.

The KS-APF employs a closed-loop control system and features independent selection of harmonics at each frequency, making it the most precise active filter on the market. The closed-loop control system detects the magnitude of every harmonic component in the current as well as the reactive power, and automatically adjusts by comparing these measurements against user-defined setpoints. The capability to independently select each harmonic is enabled by advanced control algorithms. For each selected target harmonic, the filter injects a compensating current with an opposite phase, ensuring perfect elimination of the user‑specified harmonic.
