High voltage static var generator (SVG) is a device that uses self commutating power semiconductor bridge converter to compensate dynamic reactive power. SVG is the most excellent static var compensation equipment in the world.
The basic principle of Konstanz KS series high-voltage static reactive power generator is to connect the self commutating bridge circuit in parallel to the power grid through the reactor, properly adjust the phase and amplitude of the output voltage on the AC side of the bridge circuit, or directly control the current on the AC side of the bridge circuit, so that the circuit can absorb or send reactive current that meets the requirements, and achieve the purpose of dynamic reactive power compensation.

KS series high-voltage HSVG is the representative of the latest technology in the field of reactive power compensation. KS-HSVG is connected in parallel to the power grid, which is equivalent to a variable reactive current source. Its reactive current can quickly change with the change of the load reactive current, and automatically compensate the reactive power required by the system. Its main functions are as follows:

● Maintain the voltage at the receiving end and strengthen the stability of the system voltage

KS-HSVG is a compensation device based on voltage source converter, which realizes a qualitative leap in reactive power compensation. It no longer uses capacitance and inductance devices with large capacity, but realizes the conversion of reactive energy through high-frequency switch (IGBT) of high-power power electronic devices. KS-HSVG has the following characteristics compared with traditional reactive power compensation device:
● Faster response speed within 5ms
● Diversified compensation functions, reactive compensation, harmonic compensation, negative sequence compensation and comprehensive compensation
● Stronger voltage flicker suppression capability, greater than 80%
● Wider operating range, - 100% to+100% of rated capacity
● Very low harmonic content, almost no harmonic, and can filter
● Small floor area and on-site construction
KS series chain type high-voltage HSVG, the device adopts the technology of series connection of power units in phase, and the power unit adopts H-type topology structure, which is technically reliable. When a power unit fails, the fault unit can be directly redundant in the host control parameters, and the whole device still operates normally. This greatly improves the reliability, flexibility and maintainability of high-voltage static var generator.
